How to make 2021 Your Best Year Yet

Updated: Jan 19

5 awesome products from small, POC-owned businesses

It goes without saying: 2020 was a year like no other. The pandemic has forced us inside, away from friends and family, and yearly traditions such as gathering with loved ones and singing carols lacked the oomph they once held. As we look forward to a better 2021, we’ve found some products from small, POC-owned businesses to nourish your mind, body, and soul.

FOR THE MIND

  1. Self Care Calendar

Before the pandemic, I found myself ignoring the smallest opportunities for self care instead turning to overwork and exhaustion. Now, many of those distractions have melted away, and I’ve been able to treat myself with the care that I - and everyone - deserves.

Use this self care calendar to keep an eye on good habits and provide a mental boost if pandemic fatigue sets in.

2. 2021 Spiral Bound Planner

Inspiration can strike at any time - be it chopping veggies or watering your plant babies - and having a planner nearby gives your ideas a lovely background from which they can bloom.

When your inspiration strikes, make sure to grab this planner from Cloth and Paper, a Black owned stationery shop based in Richmond, Virginia offering minimalist tools to organize your thoughts. This planner includes inserts of the months of 2021 - and there are plenty of refills available for the years to come.

FOR THE BODY

  1. Vegan Nail Polish in Merry Me

Bring in the new year with this bold and beautiful vegan nail polish. Grab one for you and another for a friend! Flapper dress and invitation to Gatsby’s 2021 soiree not included. ;)

Auda B Beauty is a Black owned beauty brand offering a variety of nail polishes inspired by the runways of Paris and Los Angeles.

Use code GIFTGOOD10 for 15% off your purchase!

2. The Duo Olive Oil Set

We’d all like to cook more. The Duo from Brightland Co. includes the Awake and Alive variants of olive oil made with California Heirloom olives that is sure to “brighten up” your own recipes. If that’s not your style, we’ve got you covered. Check out their gift cards for a unique gift for your friends and family.

FOR THE SOUL

  1. Pawty Hat

We’ve saved the very best for last. Sir Dogwood is a black owned pet boutique with bowties, hats, and other dashing canine apparel.

Don’t leave your furry friends out of the celebration! Check out the Pawty Hat to make your pooches and good boys and girls the coolest in the land!
